Cardiology
Perpetuo Socorro Hospital’s Cardiology Unit is made up of renowned cardiologists of prestigious standing, with the important mission of comprehensively meeting the care needs of cardiac patients and keeping this specialist area at the highest level. The incorporation of the latest technology allows us to carry out highly-complex treatments.
Services
- Colour Doppler echocardiogram, in adults and children, with the latest echocardiography technology and including TT and Transesophageal Echocardiography (with sedation) for anatomical and functional study of the heart and main blood vessels.
- Cardiac stress test (Stress Test), with a treadmill and Philips recording system (StressVue programme), which uses a system that records the electrocardiogram signal (ECG) through a radio waves receiver (wireless system), for the study of the functional and coronary reserve of our patients.
- Dynamic electrocardiography, through ECG Holter records over 24 to 48 consecutive hours, for the diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias.
- Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM), which involves the taking of multiple BP readings over 24 consecutive hours (ambulatory readings) with automatic inflating of the armband and subsequent reading and processing of the readings in an analysis programme. This is indicated for the diagnosis and monitoring of high blood pressure (HBP)
- Cardio-CT or CT Diagnosis with Multidetectors (DMD), where we quantify the amount of Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) (a parameter related to the risk of suffering cardiac events, angina or acute myocardial infarction) and, aided by the administration of iodinated contrast, we can obtain a non-invasive coronary angiograph with the same or increased information compared to that provided by a conventional cardiac catheterisation.
- Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, with recently updated equipment operating to perfection with a view to obtaining the best quality in the study of cardiac images, and especially designed for congenital heart defects, aortic aneurysms, myocardiopathy (these studies cannot be performed on patients who use a pacemaker).
- We are currently running the definitive Pacemaker Implantation and Monitoring Programme. Following the implantation of a pacemaker, monitoring is required to optimise its operation.
- Healthcare Clinical activity takes place in the Cardiology Outpatient Consultation Department (located on the 2nd floor of the Outpatient Consultation building, where we concentrate most of our diagnostic techniques), on the Hospitalisation and ICU floor, and in Emergencies.
